Washington D.C. - 05/12/2009
U.S. News Media Group and HealthiNation, the leading health video network, today announced an exclusive web video series featuring a selection of hospitals meeting the gold standard in health care – a ranking in U.S. News's prestigious 2009 America’s Best Hospitals rankings. The July 2009 video series premiere will coincide with the multi-platform release of the new America’s Best Hospitals rankings, both in the U.S. News & World Report monthly magazine, as well as at USNews.com, the U.S. News Media Group’s flagship website. In addition to launching online at USNews.com, the video series will be available at HealthiNation.com and on video-on-demand with major cable operator partners, reaching over 24 MM homes across the U.S.
In the America's Best Hospitals video series, HealthiNation's Chief Medical Editor Dr. Holly Atkinson will interview U.S. News’s health editors Dr. Bernadine Healy and Avery Comarow to capture their expertise and insight into the Best Hospitals ranking process. The videos will take the audience behind the scenes of the rigorous selection process, include profiles of top winners across categories, and reveal what it takes for a hospital to be named one of “America’s Best."
While America's Best Hospitals includes hospital rankings in 16 specialties, the video series will launch with the following categories: Best Overall Hospitals, Best Children's Hospitals, Best Cancer Hospitals, Best Heart & Heart Surgery Hospitals, and Best Neurology & Neurosurgery Hospitals. In addition, the top 3 ranked hospitals within each category will be profiled, providing important information about their strengths and success as a "Best Hospital."
“U.S. News & World Report is the leading online research and ranking resource for consumers making difficult healthcare decisions, and we wanted to participate in a video series that assists consumers in understanding what makes a great hospital,” said Bill Holiber, president of U.S. News Media Group. “We have already been successful in using HealthiNation’s video products extensively on our website, and so we wanted to further expand our relationship with this exclusive video series.”
HealthiNation videos have complemented U.S. News health content since November 2007. The videos are developed with professionals who translate medical jargon and complex health issues into simple, easy-to-understand language. The videos include in-depth descriptions of specific health concerns, which range from understanding cancer treatment options to how to get a better night’s sleep. They also provide viewers with preventative tips, available therapies, personal stories and insightful visuals of the body.
"The U.S. News rankings are the definitive metric for hospital care," said Raj Amin, CEO of HealthiNation. "By sharing this information with today's health consumers in an accessible and exciting approach, more people will understand what good care should be so that these standards continue to improve for everyone."
Now in its 20th year, America's Best Hospitals has grown to be the most authoritative and influential listing of hospitals nationwide. By expanding the project to include the new hospital video series, the 2009 America's Best Hospitals package will be the most comprehensive to date.
