Dr. Holly Atkinson, MD Chief Medical Officer

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Atkinson is chief medical officer and senior health correspondent for HealthiNation. She is also an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Medicine and Co-director of the Advancing Idealism in Medicine Program at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, and an adjunct professor of public health at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. In addition, she is past president of Physicians for Human Rights, a human rights organization that shared in the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize. She has worked in print, broadcast television and online media for both medical professional and consumer audiences. She holds degrees in both medicine and journalism and has had extensive experience as a medical correspondent, including assignments with NBC's Today show and The CBS Morning News.

Before joining the HealthiNation team, Dr. Atkinson was the founding chief medical editor of www.everydayhealth.com, one of the most prominent health sites on the Internet. Prior to that post, she was the Chairwoman of iVillage Health Initiatives and chief medical editor of iVillage.com. She was also a founder as well as President and CEO of Reuters Health Information, Inc. Prior to joining Reuters, Dr. Atkinson was at Lifetime Medical Television for 10 years where she served as Senior Vice President of Programming, overseeing all of the continuing medical education programs, developed for physicians, aired on the network.

Dr. Atkinson was also the founding editor of the consumer newsletter HealthNews for the Massachusetts Medical Society, publisher of the New England Journal of Medicine, and served as its editor-in-chief for more than 12 years. Dr. Atkinson has also been a columnist for New Woman magazine, DrWeil.com and iVillagehealth.com.

Dr. Atkinson has an MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, and an MS from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Colgate University with a BS in biology. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Kaveh Alizadeh is the President of Long Island Plastic Surgical group, the largest and longest running plastic surgery practice in North America. He also directs the clinical research division of the plastic surgery residency program. He obtained his undergraduate degree at Cornell University and earned his Masters Degree at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons.

He then pursued a Medical Degree from Cornell University Medical College having received commendation from the Dean. He completed his general surgery and plastic surgery training at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Dr. Alizadeh then pursued an additional year of subspecialty training in Cosmetic Surgery, Microsurgery and Breast Reconstruction at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Dr. Alizadeh has traveled abroad to lend his expertise to others, having received numerous teaching and training grants for treating patients in Central and South America, the Middle East and East Asia. Dr. Alizadeh has authored numerous publications and has given extensive presentations on the national and international level. He continues to study new methods in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery and has won awards for his innovative techniques.

Dr. Isabel Blumberg, MD OB/GYN

Dr. Isabel Blumberg is a Board-Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist in private practice in New York City. She holds degrees from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Princeton University.

Dr. Bobby Buka, MD, JD Dermatology

A graduate of the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago, Dr. Buka completed an internship in internal medicine at Saint Vincent's Hospital in New York City. He then completed a dermatology residency at the University of California, San Diego and a fellowship in pediatric dermatology at Children's Hospital in San Diego. Dr. Buka holds a law degree from Fordham University in New York City and speaks fluent Spanish.

Dr. Buka's particular expertise is pediatric dermatology, especially infantile conditions that are present at birth (congenital). He has conducted research and published widely on topics such as childhood acne, hemangiomas, connective tissue diseases (i.e. lupus) in children, and pigmented lesions. Dr. Buka speaks at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Dermatology on techniques in pediatric dermatologic surgery. His articles have been published in textbooks as well as a number of medical research journals.

He has been in private practice for 10 years, after completing his Fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at New York Hospital-Cornell University, and his Internal Medicine residency at Yale University Hospital, where he was also a Chief Resident.

Dr. Parikh is actively involved with the American Academy of Pediatrics and through multiple leadership positions she has helped educate pediatricians on how to become effective advocates in the area of children's health care legislation and policy.

She is an accomplished writer, speaker, and counselor who provides nutrition services to schools as well as corporations such as Kiels and Nike. Sharon has also made appearances on Bravo TV's "Queer Eye" as a weight-loss expert.

Kelly Victory, MD

Trauma/Emergency Medicine and Health Policy Expert

Dr. Kelly Victory is a residency-trained, board certified trauma and emergency specialist with over 15 years of clinical experience. After leaving clinical practice, she served as the Chief Medical Officer for Whole Health Management, delivering on-site health and wellness services for Fortune 55 companies. She developed innovative health risk and disease management programs that generated superior clinical outcomes for patients. Whole Health Management was acquired by Walgreens in 2008.

Dr. Victory is an expert in disaster preparedness and the medical management of mass casualties, as well as quality assurance programs. Prior to Whole Health, she founded a medical-legal consulting firm and was a principle in an investment banking firm where she lead efforts to raise funds for innovative healthcare companies. She holds a BS from Duke University, studied literature at Oxford University in England, attended the Masters program in Clinical Psychology at the University of Illinois, and received her Medical Degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

Dr. Victory has been very involved in the healthcare policy debate, and currently works with a number of politicians and candidates to define and articulate their healthcare platforms. She consults with a variety of both public and private companies regarding sustainable models for healthcare delivery, and the role of personal responsibility in meaningful healthcare reform. She is a participant in the National Preparedness Leadership Initiative, a combined project through the Harvard School of Public Health and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government to develop “meta-leaders” for national disaster preparedness and response. Dr. Victory is a guest lecturer at the University of Notre Dame and Harvard Business School Healthcare Conference, and is a member of the Leadership Council at the Harvard School of Public Health. She makes frequent appearances at political events and on talk radio shows across the nation to discuss healthcare and the impact of the recent reform legislation. Dr. Victory has been recognized by multiple organizations for her leadership in entrepreneurial and healthcare ventures.

She’s been a past recurring guest on Today, The Early Show, The 700 Club, FOX News, CNBC, weekend GMA among other national and local news and talk shows. She’s hosted two local PBS medical talk shows, Doctors On Call with Amy Hendel and Healthzone. Amy also hosted Good Eating Good Living on Westwood One radio. Amy currently blogs for several lifestyle websites and has been the expert coach of several challenges at ivillage.com. She’s been a featured health expert for Kraft, Dial, 3M and GE/NBC health campaigns.

Amy was the producer and host of the healthy home segments on HouseSmarts. Amy is currently an advisory member of the United Soybean Board and The Advanced Certificate in Bariatric Science Program at Touro College. She is author of Fat Families Thin Families (Benbella Books 2008) and her new book The 4 Habits of Healthy Families, released in June 2010. It offers a unique family team approach for shifting lifestyle behaviors in the home.

Lynn Goldstein, MS, RD, CDN

Lynn Goldstein is a registered dietitian with a Masters of Science degree from New York University. She is currently working as the nutrition educator at the Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestinal Health, the Weill Cornell Breast Center, and the Beth Israel ALS clinic in New York City.
