Even after taking preventative measures, you can still get the flu. In this video, Dr. Holly Atkinson provides some helpful tips on what to do once you are contagious and on how to treat the flu. First, stay at home. Just because you are sick doesn’t mean everyone else has to be. You will be very tired so get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids. Since a virus causes the flu there is no cure. Over the counter flu medication will help you feel better but won’t shorten the time you are sick. If you have any questions on treating the flu, contact your doctor right away.
