Chocolate Hazelnut Smoothie

Looking for a substitute for those boring chocolate protein shakes? Hazelnuts are packed with vitamins and minerals, you can also add some whey protein if needed.

Today Arielle Haspel shows you how to make a healthy chocolate hazelnut smoothie. She uses almond milk, which makes it creamier and coconut water, which brings a lot of sweetness into the smoothie. She also uses dates as a sweetener to replace things like white sugar, maple syrup and coconut palm sugar.  About 2-4 dates is good for one smoothie.

To make it chocolate hazelnut flavored, she uses unsweetened cocoa powder, also known as cacao powder. This is actually unsweetened, unprocessed and comes straight from the cocoa bean. You’re getting all the antioxidants that chocolate has, but without the additives, processed ingredients and sugar. Then add in the hazelnuts, which go perfectly with chocolate.

Add everything to a blender or food processor and enjoy this indulgent treat without going overboard!
