This morning hack will get you up and at ‘em.
Everyone knows that one person at work who manages to wake up before sunrise and squeeze in a full workout before heading to the office, showered, glowing, and smiling. What’s the secret? Most days, you feel lucky just to have remembered your wallet.
“Mornings are really tough for a lot of people, myself included,” says Frances Largeman-Roth, RDN, a registered dietitian in New York City. “It can be unpredictable; they can go in lots of different directions.”
For Largeman-Roth, the secret to a daily AM. workout is establishing a routine and sticking to it. The first step—and possibly the most important one—starts in the bedroom closet.
“I put my exercise clothes on first thing,” says Largeman-Roth. “If I have the clothes on, I’m 80 percent there, and it’s 80 percent a sure thing that I’m going to get the workout in.”
You can take it a step further. Set out your workout clothes the night before. Those running shorts and your favorite tank will be the first thing you see when you get out of bed. Some people even sleep in their workout clothes—but make sure you wear clean clothes or it could affect your skin health.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:09,618
00:00:09,618 --> 00:00:13,420
Mornings are really tough for
a lot of people, myself included.
00:00:13,420 --> 00:00:14,640
They can be unpredictable.
00:00:14,640 --> 00:00:17,120
They can go in lots of
00:00:17,120 --> 00:00:21,640
So what I try to do to maintain some kind
of consistency, because working out is so
00:00:21,640 --> 00:00:25,690
important to me is I put my
exercise clothes on first thing.
00:00:25,690 --> 00:00:28,260
Shower comes later,
real clothes come later.
00:00:28,260 --> 00:00:30,380
If I have the clothes on,
00:00:30,380 --> 00:00:34,750
I'm 80% there and it's 80% a sure thing
that I'm going to get the workout in.
00:00:34,750 --> 00:00:36,000
It doesn't always happen.
00:00:36,000 --> 00:00:41,130
Sometimes I get derailed, but even if it's
just a 20 minute weight workout at home,
00:00:41,130 --> 00:00:43,320
I know that I can make it happen.
00:00:43,320 --> 00:00:44,660
And that's really important to me.
00:00:44,660 --> 00:00:49,058
And that way I know that even though there
might be a lot of mommy stuff to deal with
00:00:49,058 --> 00:00:52,025
in the morning,
I know that I'm gonna get my me time.
