Yoga in the Park - Downward Dog

In our Tryout Workout series we take you through the workout gauntlet to find which type of workout fits you best!

Workout fads come and go, but virtually no other exercise program is as enduring as yoga. The health and mental benefits from yoga are hard to find in any other fitness routine.

The benefits of downward facing dog are endless. Done properly and consistently, the most noticeable benefits include: Stronger hands, wrists, lower-back, hamstrings, calves and Achilles tendon.

In episode 3 of Tryout Workout, Desi recaps her trip to Bryant Park in New York City for Yoga in the Park. She picks Jillian’s brain about the proper way to perform an important yoga position known as Downward Dog. The Downward Dog pose is known to decrease back pain by strengthening the entire back and shoulder girdle. Once you conquered the downward dog, take some time and learn upward facing dog to add more strength and stability to your back. Make sure you perfect your form and manage your breathing to reap all the benefits from this yoga pose!
