00:00.025 --> 00:02.261
00:02.261 --> 00:06.561
This is a quick fix if you're craving a
salad with nice balanced flavors.
00:06.561 --> 00:08.821
I'm Kolom, and you're watching Eating by
00:08.821 --> 00:12.021
00:12.021 --> 00:18.480
I'm gonna make an arugula salad with
dates, oranges, mint, and parmesan cheese.
00:18.480 --> 00:21.270
So it's a composed salad with not even a
00:21.270 --> 00:23.510
This is a great place to use.
00:23.510 --> 00:25.640
A nice olive oil, like a finishing olive
00:25.640 --> 00:28.400
I'm just gonna toss my arugula into the
00:28.400 --> 00:32.720
And I'm gonna show you, really quickly, a
nice tip for cutting the orange.
00:32.720 --> 00:36.470
I like to make my orange into steak-like
00:36.470 --> 00:38.220
I cut the ends.
00:38.220 --> 00:40.170
This is like a quick supreme of an orange.
00:41.840 --> 00:42.770
And then you just cut around.
00:44.070 --> 00:46.710
And oranges are high in vitamin C, they're
00:46.710 --> 00:51.060
refreshing, they go really nicely with
dates and almonds.
00:51.060 --> 00:57.390
I just wanna get all that white membrane
off of the flesh of the orange.
00:57.390 --> 00:59.399
I'm just gonna cut horizontally across.
01:00.830 --> 01:02.240
These are like orange fillets.
01:02.240 --> 01:05.380
And then I've got my oranges set to the
01:05.380 --> 01:07.550
So now I'm gonna cut my parmesan cheese.
01:07.550 --> 01:11.760
If you have a cheese slicer, this is a
great time to use it,
01:11.760 --> 01:15.340
or you can just cut thin pieces, which
will break up later, and
01:15.340 --> 01:20.670
that way you'll get a little salty
parmesan cheese bite every few bites.
01:20.670 --> 01:22.410
So put those to the side.
01:22.410 --> 01:24.040
Now arugula is one of the.
01:24.040 --> 01:28.690
Best sources of vitamin k of all green
leafy vegetables, and
01:28.690 --> 01:32.130
when you eat bitter greens it actually
helps with sugar cravings,
01:32.130 --> 01:34.780
it's a good food to turn to curb your
01:36.110 --> 01:40.330
So now we've got our dress arugula and I'm
gonna compose the salad.
01:40.330 --> 01:44.476
So put a little bit of arugula on the
plate, a few.
01:44.476 --> 01:49.860
Oranges, over top the arugula.
01:49.860 --> 01:54.630
So now I'll take a few slices of my
parmesan and I'll just crumble them.
01:54.630 --> 01:57.670
And I like doing this versus grating cuz
you get a bigger piece.
01:57.670 --> 01:59.370
It's a little heartier.
02:01.190 --> 02:03.120
And then some toasted almonds.
02:03.120 --> 02:06.110
Always buy them unsalted, and unroasted,
and toast them yourselves.
02:06.110 --> 02:06.780
02:06.780 --> 02:07.380
02:08.440 --> 02:12.740
Some dates, which are really high in
fiber, but they're, like, nature's candy.
02:12.740 --> 02:15.830
And finally, a little bit of mint that I
just tear right over top.
02:15.830 --> 02:17.938
And this salad is really all about fresh,
02:17.938 --> 02:20.355
simple flavors that come together
02:20.355 --> 02:22.243
02:22.243 --> 02:26.556
The challenge is to get one of everything
in just one bite.
02:26.556 --> 02:27.816
02:27.816 --> 02:30.710
The juiciness of the orange, the
crispiness of the almonds,
02:30.710 --> 02:34.530
the sweetness of the dates, and that spicy
arugula, couldn't be better.
02:34.530 --> 02:38.150
Thanks for watching Eating by Heart, I'm
