Can i get a slice of pizza? Hold the cheese!
In this episode of Clean Eating, Arielle Haspel shows you how to make a cheeseless pizza, so you can satisfy your pizza craving with a little less guilt! This delicious recipe has sweet potatoes, beans, onions, kale, and of course you can't forget your tomato sauce as the base.
First you're going to pour a little bit of olive oil into a pan as well as three cloves of garlic. Following, add in your sweet potatoes and then your black beans (you can use chickpeas as well if you'd like). Then add in your 1/2 white onion. Let these ingredients cook a little until you notice the sweet potatoes getting a tad bit soft. Meanwhile you can add a 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt and two leaves of kale, which will then cook down.
Once all the sweet potatoes are cooked, you're going to start decorating the pizza. For the crust you'll have some toasted sprouted grain tortillas or brown rice tortillas, whichever you prefer (anything but white or wheat flour!).
Before you start adding in the toppings, add a half cup of tomato sauce to your tortilla. For the tomato sauce, if you're not making it yourself, make sure you check the label before you buy it (some good tips are getting one without any added white sugar, canola oil, or soybean oil.)
Now you're ready to start adding on your toppings. Add on a little kale too! Once you're done, broil it in the oven for about 3 or 4 minutes unil the top is nice and crispy.
Once it's out, let it cool for a few minutes before enjoying.
This cheeseless pizza is both hearty and full of fiber and protein. For the first time ever, you're going to be feeling fit and healthy after eating some pizza!
