In episode 3 of Gluten Free Tasty, Host Phoebe Lapine demonstrates how to make a cherry tomato quinoa and sausage tart. This is great for a weekend brunch or an easy weeknight dinner. This recipe has many diverse ingredients but the most important one is quinoa! Quinoa is a gluten free grain that is high in protein and contains more fiber than other grains. Along with this gluten free grain are cherry's and tomatoes to add so valuable nutritious fruits to your meal, and to top it off sausage is added just to infuse that last kick in flavor for your taste buds to enjoy.



  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 (9-inch) gluten-free pie shell
  • 5 large eggs
  • ½ cup 2% milk
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ⅓ cup grated Manchego cheese
  • ½ cup cooked quinoa
  • 1 link sweet Italian chicken sausage quartered and sliced crosswise into ¼-inch pieces
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit Sprinkle the Parmesan over the bottom of the pie shell; set aside. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs together. Add the milk, salt, pepper, Manchego cheese, and quinoa and whisk again. Stir in the sausage. Pour the egg mixture into the pie shell. Add the cherry tomatoes to the tart, distributing them evenly, and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, until the tart is set and the top is golden. Cut into 6 wedges and serve. Serves 6
