Essentials: Calcium

Calcium is the most prevalent mineral in your entire body. This mineral is not made by the body, so it's important to eat calcium rich foods.

Calcium is the most prevalent mineral in your entire body and 99% of it is in your teeth and bones. Since the body cannot make this mineral on its own, you need to get it from calcium rich foods such as milks, breads and almonds. Some dietary supplements can also provide calcium. While everyone’s body is different, it is recommended that adults get about 1000 milligrams a day. Not enough calcium could lead to bone problems such as osteoporosis. Talk to your doctor today to make sure you are getting the proper amount ofcalcium.
