For a variety of reasons, over one million people around the world don’t have enough vitamin D. It’s a hormone that plays an important role in building bones. People with low amounts of vitamin D run the risk of osteoporosis, heart disease and colon cancer. Vitamin D is found in certain foods like fish, milk and eggs. It is also found in the sun earning the nickname “The Sunshine Vitamin.” If you’re not getting enough vitamin D, speak with your doctor, as they will point you in the direction of an easy to find, over the counter supplement.
