Arielle Haspel shows you how to make cleansing lemon ginger tea. Lemon ginger tea is the perfect way to start your day and boost your metabolism.
Today on Clean Eating with Arielle Haspel, you’ll be making a simple but delicious citrus tea made with just two ingredients: lemon and ginger. This warm, cleansing lemon ginger tea is a perfect way to wake up and start your day.
You won’t need any tea bags or any sweeteners since you will be using only fresh lemon and ginger. First take half of a lemon and cut it into either wedges or round slices. You can prepare this tea a couple of different ways. The first way is to put the pieces of lemon and ginger into a pot of boiling water. If you are making a single serving, you can put the ingredients into a mug and pour boiling water from a kettle directly over the ingredients in the cup.
Now cut a piece of ginger approximately 1 inch in size. Arielle shows you the best way to peel ginger using a spoon. This way is safe, easy and effective, since you won’t have to use a knife or a peeler. All you have to do is use the sharp back edge of a spoon and the ginger peels perfectly!
Many people have difficulty drinking the amount of water that their body requires. Arielle recommends drinking about half your bodyweight in ounces of water. This hydrating lemon ginger tea is ideal if you get tired of drinking plain water, or if you are just aiming to drink more water during the day.
Lemon ginger tea is the perfect thing to drink first thing in the morning, since it helps with digestion and kick-starts your metabolism. For a stronger citrus flavor, you can use a whole lemon. If desired you can also use more ginger for a spicy flavor.
Next you can carefully pour the boiling water over the ingredients in a mug. Let it steep for at least 3-4 minutes so that the flavors infuse the tea. Enjoy your refreshing lemon ginger tea!

00:02.920 --> 00:05.530
I'm Arielle Haspel and
this is HealthiNation.
00:05.530 --> 00:10.403
Today we are making a warm cleansing
delicious citrusy tea made with
00:10.403 --> 00:14.004
just two ingredients and
it's so simple to make.
00:14.004 --> 00:19.628
00:19.628 --> 00:24.270
No tea bags necessary, no sweetener
necessary, just lemon and ginger.
00:24.270 --> 00:27.300
So, what you want is one half of a lemon.
00:27.300 --> 00:31.660
You can either cut it up into
pretty little slices like this or
00:31.660 --> 00:34.130
you can always cut it up
into little wedges as well.
00:35.410 --> 00:37.870
And there a few different
ways to make the tea.
00:37.870 --> 00:42.476
Either you can put it into a pot of
boiling water with the slices of lemon and
00:42.476 --> 00:44.990
the ginger in the the pot
of boiling water.
00:44.990 --> 00:49.170
Or you're just making one single serving
you can always just put it into a teapot,
00:49.170 --> 00:54.302
put the lemon and ginger in a cup and just
pour in the hot water directly into there.
00:54.302 --> 00:56.470
We're gonna be using one inch,
00:56.470 --> 01:00.650
about, of ginger,
which is like this part of your thumb.
01:00.650 --> 01:02.690
That's how I always tell.
01:02.690 --> 01:03.440
Looks about right.
01:04.450 --> 01:05.970
And today we're gonna use a spoon.
01:05.970 --> 01:08.570
A spoon is the perfect way to peel ginger.
01:08.570 --> 01:13.380
It's actually, like, this is so difficult,
and you might even, like, ruin a nail.
01:13.380 --> 01:17.980
So instead of using a peeler, or
even a huge knife like this or even like
01:17.980 --> 01:21.700
a small pairing knife, just use the back
of a spoon, the sharp edge of a spoon.
01:21.700 --> 01:25.640
And look how perfectly this peels.
01:25.640 --> 01:27.250
When it comes to drinking water, so
01:27.250 --> 01:31.330
many people have difficulty drinking
as much as their body needs.
01:31.330 --> 01:34.070
I always recommend half your body weight,
01:34.070 --> 01:37.990
So if you're the type of person who
doesn't like to drink plain, old water or
01:37.990 --> 01:38.630
if you do and
01:38.630 --> 01:42.200
you just don't think you're drinking
enough, this is the perfect drink.
01:42.200 --> 01:46.160
I actually love to drink this in
the morning right when I get up.
01:46.160 --> 01:48.980
It's actually the first thing
I do right when I wake up.
01:48.980 --> 01:52.520
It helps with digestion,
helps with metabolism.
01:52.520 --> 01:55.290
You can use a full lemon, too,
if you want it super citrusy, but
01:55.290 --> 01:58.470
I always think a half of a lemon
is just perfect for one mug.
01:58.470 --> 02:02.850
And of course you could always use extra
ginger as well if you want it extra spicy,
02:02.850 --> 02:07.290
but I always think that one inch of
ginger is just the perfect amount.
02:07.290 --> 02:10.080
time to pour in the boiling water.
02:10.080 --> 02:11.560
Watch your fingers.
02:13.410 --> 02:17.608
and I always let it steep for about,
I would say for three to four minutes,
02:17.608 --> 02:20.859
just to make sure all the juices
from the lemon come out and
02:20.859 --> 02:22.712
the spiciness from the ginger.
02:22.712 --> 02:27.796
02:27.796 --> 02:31.550
Perfect in the morning or
perfect even for a cool night.
02:31.550 --> 02:34.254
Refreshing, spicy, citrusy.
02:34.254 --> 02:35.587
It's pretty perfect.
02:35.587 --> 02:39.130
Cheers to healthy eating and
02:39.130 --> 02:39.630
