This is a healthy spin on everyone’s favorite game-day food, since you will be making baked chicken wings instead of deep-fried chicken wings.
Flavorful and spicy ingredients like coriander, lime juice and cilantro take this recipe for Thai chicken wings to the next level. Start by mixing flour, coriander and sea salt in a bowl. Toss the chicken wings in this flour mixture to evenly coat. This will give your baked chicken wings a nice texture, and will create a coating for the Thai-style hot sauce to absorb into.
Even though chicken wings do have more fat than chicken breasts, a lot of the extra fat will cook off and the wings will have a nice flavor. Spread the chicken wings onto a baking pan, making sure not to crowd them so that they will brown evenly and beautifully. Place in the oven and bake at 500 degrees for about 45 minutes.
Now it’s time to make the Thai-style sauce that will coat your baked chicken wings. Colombe uses melted coconut oil, a nutritious oil that has antibacterial properties and helps lower bad cholesterol. Add some red Thai curry sauce and fish sauce to bring out more complex flavors. - 2 pounds chicken wings
- 2 ½ tablespoons red chili hot sauce
- ½ tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 teaspoon Thai red curry paste
- 2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons melted Coconut Oil
InstructionsPreheat the oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl mix the flour, salt and coriander. Toss in the chicken wings to evenly coat with the flour mixture. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and then rub with olive oil, spreading to coat evenly. Lay wings out on the baking sheet, evenly spaced. Bake for about 45 minutes turning once, and brush another layer of olive oil over top. Mix the coconut oil, fish sauce, chili sauce and curry paste in a bowl. When the chicken wings are crispy on the outside, remove from the oven and toss in sauce. Serve with coconut rice and sprinkle with cilantro. Serves 4-6
