ADHD Symptoms

As there is no test for ADHD, parents should watch for typical symptoms of ADHD, or common ADHD behavior that may signify the condition.

There is no one test it diagnose ADHD, and it can also be hard to spot. Instead, parents should watch for at least six symptoms for a period of over six months. Their child should show these symptoms both at home and in school. Symptoms of ADHD typically appear before a child is 7 years old, but it is often difficult to diagnose them before that age. In this video, Dr. Preeti Parikh discusses signs of ADHD and what you can do to monitor your own child. ADHD behavior to look out for include fidgeting with hands and feet, running or climbing at inappropriate times, or excessive talking. In order for an ADHD diagnosis to be completely effective, input should be given from parents, teachers, principals and even babysitters.
