After a Heart Attack: Physical

The heart attack recovery process can be lengthy, but a cardiac rehabilitation program can speed things up after a heart attack.

Surviving a heart attack (myocardial infraction) can be tough. You will likely constantly wonder if you are going to have another one. In this video, Dr. Holly Phillips shares some tips to lower your risk of having another heart attack and getting back to your regular life.

The most important step to a heart attack recovery is to reduce or eliminate factors that put you at risk for another one. These include high blood pressure, cholesterol, smoking, physical inactivity, obesity and diabetes. 

Eventually, once you've discussed it with your doctor, you'll likely need to make physical activity a part of your daily life. In fact, your doctor may suggest that you exercise more than you did before the attack. One of the best things you can do for yourself is to participate in a cardiac rehabilitation program after a heart attack, as it can speed the recovery process significantly and help you gain a sense of well-being and optimism about the future.
