COPD Treatment

It's best to start COPD treatment as soon as you are diagnosed, including medications for COPD, as well as other non-medication treatments.

The key when diagnosed with COPD is to start COPD treatment before it becomes too severe, as there is no cure for the condition. Medications for COPD fall under two categories: bronchodilators and anti-inflammatories. In this video, Dr. Holly Atkinson explains how these medications work, as well as other treatments such as oxygen therapy, protein therapy, and the pulmonary rehabilitation program. Although there are good treatment options, the best way to prevent or at least slow the progress of COPD is to quit smoking and see your doctor so you can begin treatment.
