Kids & Sleep: Toddlers

Good sleep starts with a predictable, soothing bedtime routine. The goal is to create positive associations with bedtime.

Good sleep starts with a predictable, soothing bedtime routine. As explained in this video by Parenting Expert & Author Ann Pleshette Murphy, the goal is to create positive associations with bedtime. You want your kids to think going to bed is empowering and not punishment. It is also important to avoid stimulation before bed. Have them wind down without using TV or a laptop in the two hours before bedtime. Also cut out sugar, caffeine and chocolate at dinner. Going to sleep is a big deal for a child so rewarding positive behavior lets them know they are doing a great job.
