What Causes Hot Flashes During Menopause?

Three-quarters of women get hot flashes during menopause. Here's what you need to know.

Hot flashes are common for women during menopause. In fact, 75% of women have them. Hot flashes usually last 2-4 minutes and involve lots of sweating followed by shivering. They are caused by hormonal fluctuations and can be quite uncomfortable. If they become too bothersome, it is best to visit your doctor.
