Saying you want a dog and actually taking care of a dog are two completely different things. So how do you know if you’re actually ready? In this video, Dr. Louise Murray from the ASPCA runs through a quick checklist to see if having a dog is right for you. Dr. Murray wants you to ask yourself certain questions like “Can I afford a dog?” “Do I have time to spend with my dog?” and “Will I be able to handle the different health concerns that arise with my dog?” If you conclude you are ready, Dr. Murray recommends adopting from a local shelter as this can change both your life and your new dog’s.
