Preparing for Pregnancy Part 1

Preparing for pregnancy is vital for all couples. There are many factors affecting fertility, so it is important to understand how to conceive a baby.

Preparing to have a baby can be both exciting and nerve-racking. In this video, Dr. Isabel Blumberg goes through a pre-pregnancy checklist to make sure your body and mind is ready for fertility. It is important to visit an obstetrician so they can run a series of tests to see if you are healthy enough to give birth. Once they determine you are, focus on eating foods rich in nutrients, proteins, irons, and carbs. While gaining weight is bound to happen, it is best for your body to stay physically fit, as giving birth is quite physically demanding. As a rule you should not be over or under 15% your ideal weight. And while we all know pregnant women should not smoke, drink or use drugs, Dr. Blumberg advises quitting well before you are pregnant in order to have your body ready for your baby.
