- 00:02 Yeah, I feel like in your early 20s there's like this pressure to,
- 00:04 like, you know, you're young, you're vibrant, you should be healthy, and
- 00:07 you should be all of these things.
- 00:09 I am stressed out beyond belief.
- 00:11 This is, like, as good as it gets?
- 00:11 Like, I'm like, I'm screwed!
- 00:13 [MUSIC]
- 00:19 >> What stresses you guys?
- 00:19 I know at, at this point in our lives it's easy to
- 00:22 stress over things like relationships and then focusing on your career as well.
- 00:27 >> I don't really have much of a career.
- 00:29 I'm a waitress, so it's not like I'm like, ugh, man.
- 00:32 If I could just get more tables.
- 00:34 [LAUGH] You know?
- 00:35 It's not really like, If I just memorize that menu.
- 00:38 So there's really like no pressure for
- 00:40 that, but probably the main stressors would be relationships.
- 00:45 Just cuz now all my friends, they're starting to get boyfriends.
- 00:49 All of my guy friends are getting girlfriends.
- 00:50 Now we're all going out.
- 00:52 And then I'm like oh my God, I can't be like this loser that's just like aw.
- 00:56 So I think relationships, I think that's a stressor.
- 00:59 >> It's a stressor for you?
- 01:00 >> I think so.
- 01:01 >> One of my professors said, like, Sylvia you should probably prepare that you
- 01:03 won't meet the guy you're going to marry till like you're in your 30s.
- 01:05 And I was like, I said, great.
- 01:07 [LAUGH] Like thanks.
- 01:09 I appreciate that.
- 01:10 >> I'm from the midwest and there's pressure to get married a lot younger.
- 01:14 I've been with my boyfriend three years and I'm getting pressure all the time.
- 01:17 when, when are you going to get married?
- 01:20 >> I do see in some of my friends and
- 01:21 stuff very eager to get engaged, which is exciting.
- 01:24 And all of that, that pressure to get engaged can cause a lot of stress.
- 01:29 >> It never made sense to me.
- 01:32 Women that want to be married or be engaged.
- 01:36 >> Yeah. >> You should want to be in love.
- 01:38 And since it, it's crazy to me, cuz I just I want to be married.
- 01:41 You need to get a man first.
- 01:43 >> [LAUGH] >> Kind of like
- 01:44 putting the cart before the horse in the worst way.
- 01:47 >> What stresses me more than like the marriage is pressure to have.
- 01:52 >> Children? >> Family, yeah.
- 01:53 It's more that there's like a physical age limit.
- 01:56 I want to have the energy, I want to be physically okay to do that.
- 02:01 >> To run around and be energetic.
- 02:03 >> Yeah. Yeah. And just to be healthy too and
- 02:05 like have a healthy pregnancy and all of that.
- 02:07 It's like so that is what stresses me is like the clock ticking.
- 02:12 >> Yeah.
- 02:12 >> I would probably say it's my job.
- 02:15 I work as a nurse in a operating room.
- 02:17 It's a lot of stress.
- 02:18 A lot of anxiety.
- 02:20 Like there are days I go to work and I don't want to go.
- 02:22 >> No, I think it's very stressful in your early 20s or even later when
- 02:25 you're trying to figure out what you want to do with the rest of your life.
- 02:29 >> Yeah. >> That's a, that's a tricky question.
- 02:31 The rest of your life is a pretty long time.
- 02:34 Make sure you're doing something you enjoy.
- 02:35 [MUSIC]
- 02:41 >> Stress can be caused by many things, and for
- 02:44 each person, it's an individual stresser.
- 02:47 So for some people, work can be their big stress.
- 02:50 Whereas for others, a relationship.
- 02:53 Stress can happen at any age.
- 02:55 So it's important for you to recognize when it is happening to you,
- 02:58 and figuring out what makes you less stressed.
- 03:02 The reason reducing stress is so important is the way it could affect your body, and
- 03:06 in the long-term your health.
- 03:08 Your body can be affected both physically, by having stomach pains,
- 03:12 headaches to mentally, emotionally, feeling depressed and anxious.
- 03:17 To your behavior,
- 03:18 how you interact with other people in your relationships because your so stressed.
- 03:22 But the important things to find out how you react to it.
- 03:25 And what is it that makes you stressed.
