Weight Loss Tip: Do the Math

Dr. Paul Knoepflmacher explains that losing weight is like a math equation. Check out this video and maybe he can help solve your weight equation!

As Dr. Paul Knoepflmacher explains, losing weight is as simple as a solving a math equation. Start by identifying your 2 weight loss related numbers: weight loss rate and total. If you stick to a healthy, manageable routine, your weight loss rate should have you shedding 1-2 pounds a week. For your total, doctors recommend losing 5-10% of your starting weight. For example, if you start at 200 pounds, you should set a goal of 10-20 pounds.

Once you have the numbers you can create a long-term plan. Setting a finish line can cause the days to drag so it is important to set mini-milestones to pump you up along the way. Feel free to celebrate at each 5 pound mark by indulging in a slice of pizza or a snack of your choosing. Then, back at it!
