If you are diagnosed with CAD, your doctor will consider a medical or surgical option. If you take the medication route, you may use cholesterol lowering drugs, aspirin, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors or diuretics. If your condition is severe, your doctor may recommend surgery to improve the blood flow within your arteries. The most common surgical procedure is an angioplasty and is used to open a severe blockage.
