Fish is often a healthy alternative to some fatty meats like steak or ground beef. Fish is an especially good choice for people with high triglycerides. Oily fish (salmon, tuna, sardines, lake trout, herring and mackerel) are high in Omega-3s and is recommended. How healthy your fish is all depends on how it is prepared. Broiled or baked fish reduces the risk of heart disease while fried fish may actually increase it. Talk to your doctor to find out the very best way to get your Omeda-3s.
