What is Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)?

What is DVT? DVT stands for deep vein thrombosis and occurs when a blood clot develops in a deep vein, and if it breaks loose it is called an embolus. An embolus is dangerous because this can travel to the heart and lead to a pulmonary embolism.
