What is DVT? DVT stands for deep vein thrombosis and occurs when a blood clot develops in a deep vein, and if it breaks loose it is called an embolus. An embolus is dangerous because this can travel to the heart and lead to a pulmonary embolism. In this video, Dr. Preeti Parikh explains this dangerous occurrence as well as how the circulatory system works in general.
