Whole artichokes are a delicious and elegant edition to many dinners, and can be steamed or stuffed.
In this video, Phoebe shows you how to prepare artichokes for cooking. To start, remove the top third of the artichoke with a large chef’s knife. This will help remove the majority of the spikes around the top of the artichoke. To get all of the remaining spikes, take kitchen shears and clip off the tips of individual spikes around the bottom of the artichoke. You can also use a peeler to peel the stem to make it tenderer once cooked, or just trim off the stem entirely.
