What is psoriasis? Psoriasis is a condition that develops when the immune system malfunctions. It is estimated that 5-8 million Americans have this chronic disease. As Dr. Bobby Buka explains in this video, a psoriasis flare-up occurs when the body’s t-cells mistakenly start fighting each other and the body responds by making more skins cells before old ones can be shed off. There are 6 different types of psoriasis: plaque psoriasis, guttate psoriasis, pustular psoriasis, inverse psoriasis, erythrodermic psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Dr. Bobby Buka explains the six different types of psoriasis and how each one can affect your body.
