Counting meditation combines counting and breathing to put your mind and body into a deeply relaxed state.
Yoga and meditation expert Sarah Bernier Olin explains that counting meditation is great for beginners and also people with an active mind who think they cannot meditate. It is best to do before an event or situation that causes anxiety such as public speaking or flying on an airplane. Some call this exercise “square breath” because all four stages of your breathing are the same like a square. Once finished with this short exercise, feel free to repeat throughout the day. Keep it short but after several times you can start to work up to 10-15 minutes. As the time increases so will the feeling of calmness.
