Cross training is done my bodybuilders, NFL players and now you! Cross-training, sometimes referred to as circuit training, refers to combining exercises of other disciplines, different than that of the athlete in training. In the case of a runner by cycling, weight lifting, etc you are utilizing muscles that do not get used during your running sessions!
Working out is tough on your body but it can also be a drag on your mind. That is why it is important to mix up your exercises. Alternating between strength training, flexibility exercises and aerobic activities will keep your body sweating and your mind active.
